While the news cycle has moved on to occurrences of violence elsewhere in the world, last month’s shooting at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando is still sending shockwaves and having an impact on people in our community.
To bring people together and remember the victims of the Orlando massacre, St. John’s Lutheran Church will hold a special service called “Love. After Orlando.,” a service of unity and remembrance. The service will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday, July 12, in the church sanctuary, located at 544 N. Broadway.
“The shooting spree in Orlando took away the feelings of safety our friends in the LGBTQ community have when they enter a club like Pulse,” says Steve Misenheimer, senior pastor at St. John’s Lutheran Church. “We know, from speaking to members of our church family, that feelings of fear, anger and confusion still linger. Our hope with ‘Love. After Orlando.” is to provide a safe place for everyone in our community to take steps toward healing.”
“Love. After Orlando.” will include a time of worship, reflection and communion followed by refreshments in the church fellowship hall.
